The US Senate Armed Services Committee approved additional funds for missile defence, such as for hypersonic weapons, in the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA) for its financial year 2021, a summary of the draft bill revealed.
The bill frees weapons capabilities from the Indo-Pacific by shifting $75 million for Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASM) for its Air Force and provides $59.6 million for 36 Ground-Based Anti-Ship Missiles.
Additionally, the bill provides $26 million for ten additional Tomahawk missiles, Donating procuring 165 missiles and weighs $35 million for ten added LRASM to enhance US capabilities”to dull a Russian offensive”.
“The bill authorizes $1.4 billion for PDI in FY21, for example $188.6 million over the budget request for Indo-Pacific needs, such as missile defense, enhancing forward position, and improving interoperability with allies and partners”, the statement stated.
