TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2022 (SpaceRyder PR) — SpaceRyde, the world’s first rocket network providing on-demand cargo transportation from the Earth to the Moon and everywhere in between, announced today the addition of fellow Canadian space innovator and CEO of Kepler Communications, Mina Mitry, to the company’s Board of Advisors. Mitry will join SpaceRyde’s inaugural member; career space engineer leader and former Vice President of Propulsion Engineering at SpaceX, Jeff Thornburg on the board.
Mina Mitry is the co-founder and CEO of Kepler Communications, a company seeking to simplify access to space-generated data and empower the human reach outside of earth. Located in downtown Toronto, Kepler designs, builds, and operates a network of satellites that will deliver the internet for space to satellites and future space stations. In 2018, under Mitry’s leadership, Kepler was named one of the most innovative space companies in the world by Fast Company.
“On-demand and affordable space transportation will be the game changer for the development and support of the future space economy,” says Mitry; “I’m excited to share my expertise with fellow Canadian space company, SpaceRyde, to help them not only remove the bottleneck on space innovation but also in building our shared vision for a spacefaring civilization.”
SpaceRyde has built and tested at an unprecedented pace; from ideation to customer-serving flights in only 5 years. The company was founded in 2018 and is serving customer missions in 2023 and plans for their first lunar mission in 2024. With the addition of Mitry’s expertise, the company plans to scale their operations drastically to support their greater mission of an on-demand and affordable logistics infrastructure for space cargo transportation to, from and within space.
“Mina has set the standard for Canadian space companies,” declares Sohrab, “And we are excited to tap into his experiences to build the future of space transportation that one day will transport Kepler satellites, whenever and wherever they need to go, to support their goal of building the internet of space.”
About SpaceRyde:
SpaceRyde is building a network of smart rockets in space that provide on-demand cargo transportation from the Earth to the Moon and everywhere in between, offering a private Uber-like service for cargo in space. This network forms the logistical infrastructure needed to accelerate space development, unlocking trillions of dollars of value for the new space economy.
At the core of SpaceRyde’s business is the belief that the development of the new space economy shouldn’t come at the cost of our planet. We’ve developed the world’s only sustainable launch system that transports the rocket above the atmosphere, protecting the ozone layer and reducing the environmental impact on Earth. Additionally, SpaceRyde’s smart rockets are equipped with enhanced kick stage technology that allows them to have a life beyond their initial mission, allowing them to become the logistical infrastructure needed to support continuous innovation in space without contributing to the space junk crisis. Headquartered in Canada, SpaceRyde’s facilities are the country’s first and only rocket factory and rocket testing facility. To learn more about SpaceRyde, visit www.spaceryde.com.
About Kepler Communications:
Kepler is a satellite telecommunications provider on a mission to build the internet for space. Incorporated in 2015, Kepler provides real-time, continuous connectivity for space communications, abolishing barriers to make space-generated data universally available. The Kepler Network will initially service low earth orbit (LEO) and plans to provide connectivity services to space missions in LEO, MEO, GEO, and beyond. Based out of Toronto, Kepler is building a global company to enable communications for the future space economy. The first to launch and operate a Ku-band satellite service in Low Earth Orbit, Kepler has expanded its capabilities with the successful commissioning of a cubesat production facility at their Toronto headquarters. The company is backed by Costanoa Ventures, IA Ventures and other leading investors.
