Space SPAC Index: Rocket Lab Adds to Satellite Component Line, AST SpaceMobile Signs MOU with Saudi Telecom, Redwire to Provide Camera for Starfish Mission (Image Credit: Payload)
Welcome to S-SPACi.
Rocket Lab (NAS: RKLB) has added the Frontier-X software-defined radio and the 12Nms reaction wheel to its catalog of satellite products.
The Frontier-X radio is designed to expand the reach of small satellites beyond low Earth orbit (LEO) to cislunar and deep space destinations as well as provide an affordable alternative for mission payload downlink at LEO. The system is based on Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory’s flight-proven Frontier Radio.
Rocket Lab’s new 12Nms reaction wheel expands attitude control solutions for spacecraft with masses as high as 600-650 kg and lifetimes of 12 years. Rocket Lab subsidiary Sinclair Interplanetary has designed it specifically for constellation-class satellites.

AST SpaceMobile Signs MOU with Saudi Telecom
AST SpaceMobile (NAS: ASTS) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saudi telecom and digital service provider Zain KSA. The two companies will collaborate toward providing land, sea and in-flight communications services using AST’s satellite constellation and Zain’s network.
“We are thrilled to cooperate with Zain in Saudia Arabia. We hope this collaboration will further access to reliable, space-based cellular broadband for current and future mobile users in the country,” said Chris Ivory, Chief Commercial Officer of AST SpaceMobile.
AST also signed a similar non-binding MOU with Brazil’s mobile network TIM earlier this month.
Redwire to Provide Camera to Starfish Space
Redwire (NYS: SPCE) will provide its Argus space domain awareness camera for Starfish Space’s Otter Pup docking mission. Redwire has also secured a contract option to demonstrate its Cerebro Resident Space Object tracking software in orbit after Otter Pup’s primary mission is completed.
The goal of the Otto Pup mission is to accomplish the first-ever docking of two commercial satellites in low Earth orbit. The Argus camera will determine the relative position of Otto Pup from its docking target.
The contract option involves installing the Cerebro tracking software into the ARGUS camera system to demonstrate space domain awareness mission applications for the Department of Defense. The software leverages ExoAnalytics algorithms.
