Yuri Borisov Inspected the Construction Site of Russia’s National Space Center

MOSCOW (Roscosmos PR) — On Monday, August 29, 2022, Yuri Borisov, Director General of Roscosmos State Corporation, inspected the construction site of the National Space Center (NCC).  

In the NCC complex, blocks of the main low-rise part of the NCC buildings have already been completely built and 27 floors of a high-rise building, the architectural dominant of the NCC, have been erected. The installation of facade systems and work on the laying of engineering systems and equipment has begun. 

It is planned to accommodate about 12,000 employees of organizations in the rocket and space industry, as well as 8,000 employees of the Moscow production site of the Khrunichev Center, at the NCC. The NCC will also house the basic departments of the leading Moscow engineering universities that train specialists for the industry. 

Borisov said:  “The creation of the National Space Center solves a number of strategically important tasks for the development of the rocket and space industry. Placement of Moscow industry organizations in a single center will provide modern working conditions for the activities of specialists. The creation of specialized basic departments, scientific laboratories and an educational complex for students, students and graduate students working in direct contact with existing enterprises will improve the quality of personnel training and provide a higher degree of integration of science, industry and education in the implementation of key industry projects.”

The National Space Center is being created by the Moscow Government together with the Roscosmos State Corporation on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It will become one of the largest centers of the space industry in the world, bringing together on one site the leading organizations of the rocket and space industry: the headquarters of the Roscosmos State Corporation, industry institutes and enterprises, design bureaus and other facilities. Its main architectural feature will be a 47-storey tower over 288 meters high.

In addition to the construction of the NCC, in this area of ​​Moscow, it is also planned to develop the adjacent vacated territory of the Khrunichev Center with an area of ​​about 90 hectares. A special economic zone will be created here, enterprises of the research and production cluster will be located, and social and transport infrastructure will be developed. A convention and exhibition center and renovation facilities may also appear.
