Each week, Ursa Space ingests approximately 25,000 SAR images into its image services database, equivalent to 1.5 petabytes of total archival imagery.
Customers can now purchase Ursa Space’s Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite imagery via application programming interface (API) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Exchange, by searching the archival database or tasking future imagery.
Ursa Space’s Image Services catalog provides an historical database of imagery metadata available for commercial purchase. In addition to ingesting, cataloging, and normalizing data from vendors in its Virtual Constellation, one of the largest one-stop shop for commercial satellite imagery comprising multiple synthetic aperture radar (SAR), radio frequency (RF), and optical vendors, Ursa Space is also able to rapidly task new imagery and deliver the resulting data to customers.
Each week, Ursa Space ingests approximately 25,000 SAR images into its image services database, equivalent to 1.5 petabytes of total archival imagery. And the extended Virtual Constellation also includes optical imagery and other sensor data, such as radio frequency and multispectral.
AWS Data Exchange makes it easier for AWS customers to securely find, subscribe to, and use third-party data on AWS. AWS customers can access Ursa Space’s Image Ordering API today through AWS Data Exchange and pay for just the images they need. To gain secure access to imagery purchases from Ursa Space, customers will initially be asked to complete a brief verification process, which can be easily renewed quarterly to sustain access.
Users may place purchase requests to schedule a SAR collection at a future date, or purchase imagery from the archive catalog containing over 10 million SAR images. Imagery costs, whether archival or future tasking, vary in price based on supplier and resolution. On AWS Data Exchange, users will be charged a number of “units” depending on the image(s) being ordered, where each unit corresponds to one US dollar.
