MOSCOW (Roscosmos PR) — On Monday, August 15, 2022, the Roscosmos State Corporation, during the Army-2022 International Military-Technical Forum, for the first time showed the public a mock-up of the new Russian orbital station.

Currently, Energia Rocket and Space Corporation (part of Roscosmos) is developing a draft design of the Russian Orbital Station, which is expected to be deployed in two stages.

According to preliminary studies, at the first stage the station will include four modules – scientific and energy, nodal, base and gateway. This will provide a crew of two with a total pressurized volume of 228 cubic meters, including up to 19 cubic meters to accommodate scientific equipment.

At the second stage, the Russian Orbital Station is planned to be supplemented with target and production modules, as well as a service platform. Due to this, the total pressurized volume of the station for a crew of two to four people will increase to 667 cubic meters, of which up to 49 cubic meters would be used for the installation of scientific equipment.

Among the new qualities and capabilities of the national station, the developers single out greater energy for targeted tasks, the unification of modules, the possibility of interaction with promising satellite constellations and various modes of operation.
