MOJAVE, Calif. — The Mojave Air and Space Port has received a $5.9 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to rehabilitate and strengthen portions to Runway 12-30, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) announced.
Runway 12-30 is the longest of Mojave’s three runways at 12,500 feet long. It has been used by Stratolaunch’s Roc aircraft, Virgin Orbit’s Boeing 747 Cosmic Girl and Virgin Galactic’s WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo vehicles.
“This federal grant will provide Mojave with the resources it needs to continue serving as a renowned aviation destination while also supporting the test and development of new flight technologies at Mojave Air and Space Port. This funding will ensure that our industry and defense partners have access to essential infrastructure to reach trailblazing milestones in aerospace,” McCarthy said in a statement.

The airport received an $8 million grant from the FAA in 2000 for the reconstruction of Taxiway C.
