BOCA RATON, FL. (December 02, 2021) – Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems Inc. (Tyvak), subsidiary, of Terran Orbital Corporation (Terran Orbital), a leader in the development, innovation, and operation of small satellites and earth observation solutions, was awarded an $8.4 million contract for a prototype spacecraft capable of maneuvering between Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and VLEO orbits from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate.
Delivered as part of the Precise program and awarded under the Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) Other Transaction Authority (OTA), Tyvak will design and manufacture the spacecraft to fit a specific AFRL payload that will travel between LEO and VLEO several times during the lifespan of the demonstration. The prototype spacecraft will extend the envelope of maneuverability for small satellites, while pioneering demonstrable satellite operations in a new orbit.
